This pair showcases both sides of Château Clarke, the Rothschild family’s Bordeaux estate. It brings together a classic Left Bank red and a rare, characterful Bordeaux Blanc.
Château Clarke 2020 (Listrac-Médoc | 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon)
2020 is one of the finest vintages the château has made. The wine is deep purple, with ripe black cherry, cassis and bilberry over fine, polished tannins. A touch of new oak adds a smoky, gently sweet finish. It is structured and savoury, with an earthy spice that rewards decanting.
Le Merle Blanc 2024 (AC Bordeaux | Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle, Sauvignon Gris)
A rare white from the estate. It opens with citrus peel and jasmine, then moves to lemongrass and a creamy richness from carefully judged oak. The palate is fresh and taut, balanced by generous fruit and a delicate toasty, savoury note.
Together they make an elegant pairing for any occasion: the white for the first course, the red for the main.
